Meet-Me Room (MMR)

A dedicated, carrier-neutral space within a data center where multiple network carriers physically terminate their circuits, enabling tenants throughout the building to cross-connect to any participating carrier.

The meet-me room is the physical infrastructure that makes a facility's interconnection ecosystem accessible, and carrier-neutral MMR access (as opposed to a single-carrier building where only one network provider's circuits are present) is a key differentiator that colocation operators market heavily, since enterprise tenants generally want optionality across multiple network and cloud providers rather than lock-in to one. MMR access fees, port charges, and the fees carriers pay for a presence in the room constitute another distinct, high-margin revenue line beyond base cabinet rent and cross-connect fees, and the breadth of carriers present in a facility's MMR is a commonly cited due-diligence metric when evaluating a colocation asset's competitive position within its metro.
